Nelya is an emerging theatre creative who has worked as a collaborative artist and actor. Her interest was sparked she was chosen to direct a short version of ‘Heart's Desire’ by Caryl Churchill during her time at uni. Nelya went on to be a student participant in developing the first live theatre show in which the main actor was played by a audience member through the technology of virtual reality (more information here) . During the last semester of her university degree Nelya joined ActNow theatre as an Actor in their Responding to Racism program since then she has collaborated with ActNow with many projects including Theatre of the Global Majority as an workshop assistant, school reach out programs and through their associate producer development program (more information here). In 2019 Nelya was awarded a development grant from the South Australian State Theatre Company to create ‘Supers project’ (working title) a story for adult children from minority backgrounds alongside Chiara Gabrielli, Kiara Milera and Cher Tan. Since the COVID19 pandemic Nelya and her collaborators are currently converting ‘Supers Project’ (working title) into podcast with the financial help from Arts South Australia's COVID arts support grant. Nelya is also credited as a writer on the State Theatre and ActNow co production of Decameron 2.0 (more information here).
